Some Frequently Asked Questions on Eyebrow Microblading to help you to decide if this is the service for you!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL AFTER MICROBLADING? The superficial layers of skin may lightly flake and heal over during the first week following treatment. However, skin isn't considered fully healed on deeper levels until around 6 weeks time, which is why the complimentary Top-Up appointment is usually performed 6-8 weeks later. HOW LONG DO MICROBLADING RESULTS LAST? Microblading is a manual tattooing procedure, however, results are regarded as semi-permanent*, requiring a ReTouch every 1-2 years to keep Brows looking their best. (*This is due to a number of factors, including: types of pigments used, the nature of facial skin, and fading from sun exposure, facial treatments and products.)
IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?
Everyone has different levels of sensitivity. Numbing cream is applied to treatment areas and left to work for plenty of time prior to treatment. Some individuals says they can barely feel anything at all (even falling asleep during the treatment!), whereas some do feel discomfort and tell me they're very glad they only have it done once a year or so! Haha. Thankfully, even for those that do experience some pain, I am a skilled professional and fairly quick during the procedure section of the appointments, ensuring any discomfort is short-lived.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? The longest appointment is the initial (New Set) Microblading session, which, thanks to me (Louska) being a bit of a whizz, is still only 1hr 40mins long (nearly half of this time is dedicated to the brow mapping and numbing stages of the appointment too). All further appointments take much less time. For ReTouch appointments, more time is booked out the longer it's been since your last visit. The full time booked isn't always needed as I will always work as efficiently as I can.
IS MICROBLADING BETTER THAN TATTOOING/MACHINE METHODS? Two methods, similar result! I am trained and experienced in all Microblading Techiniques (yes, even shading and ombre brows can be done via manual Microblade!), so there's nothing a great machine tech can do that I can't. Some people wrongly believe that one method or the other goes "deeper" and therefore lasts longer. This is completely false, all SPMU is performed at the same depth, as working too light would disappear in a month or two and too deep would go grey/blue and blurry. Both Microblading and Machine/Digital types of SPMU go to the same depths and may use the same pigments etc. One is just using manual tools and the other uses a tattoo pen-like machine the similar to normal tattoo artists that work on the body. The real difference from one artists work to another's is: their skill level, their style of work, the type of pigments they use, and the aftercare plan they get you to follow. (Also, whether you follow said aftercare... healed results rely heavily on how you care for your brows once you leave the clinic)
DOES MICROBLADING CAUSE SCARRING? As long as your service is carried out by a trained and qualified professional, and you follow all of the aftercare advice, there is no significant risk of any scarring (as long as you're not prone to keloid scarring which is a contraindication to treatment). Obviously, always check the photos and clients reviews of a practitioner before trusting them with your face! WHO CANNOT HAVE MICROBLADING DONE? • Anyone with skin conditions affecting the brow area or know scarring issues (i.e. keloids) • Anyone with immune disorders, blood disorders, or Diabetes should consult their Doctors first • Those on chemo or radiation therapy must wait 6 months after completely finishing treatment (in the case of life-long chemo medications, consult your Doctor first) • Any persons pregnant or breastfeeding (the process and products are not harmful, but hormone levels and other factors are not conductive to a good long-lasting healed result) If in doubt about anything in your medical history... don't book your main appointment until after you have already had your Consultation & Patch Test appointment (this is mandatory for all new clients). The consultation process should ensure any possible contraindications are flagged and dealt with so that only eligible clients receive treatment. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to Contact The Louska Beauty Clinic.
